The project was part of the UDA’s ongoing area roadway construction program in the Houston Galleria Area. Westpark Drive included the widening and reconfiguration of the roadway from South Rice Boulevard to IH-610, the completion of miscellaneous boulevard work from Hidalgo Pond to Richmond, the modification of bus platforms and pavers, and the installation of Metro surveillance and communication duct bank. S. Post Oak Lane involved the reconstruction of 1,500 LF of the existing three-lane pavement with a new 10” reinforced concrete pavement and subgrade along S. Post Oak Lane from Doliver to Tilbury, N Wynden Dr. The scope of work also included the widening of N. and S. Wynden Dr. with lane reconfiguration, concrete curb, sidewalk, street lights, storm sewer trunk line and inlets, a new traffic signal at Longmont Dr., improvements in pavement markings, and the relocation of all overhead power and communication lines underground into a private Utility Duct Bank system within the existing ROW.

Aurora served as the Lead Construction Engineer to support overall construction field services, including project coordination with TxDOT/ METRO for the operation of BRT and the Uptown Transit Center. Aurora provided daily construction management support for construction inspection and testing. Among other CE/M&I services, their team was responsible for establishing the construction protocol, managing the inspection and testing team, assisting in the review of RFIs/submittals, negotiating with the contractor on work directives, as well as addressing construction phasing and issues related to the construction schedule, critical path constructability matters, traffic circulation, traffic safety, and business and public access management.
