Aurora Promotes Sustainability at the HAUFC Tree Planting Competition
Houston, TX – Aurora Technical Services participated in the 2025 Houston Area Urban Forestry Council’s Tree Planting Competition, showing its commitment to sustainability. The event brought engineering firms together to plant trees efficiently while promoting teamwork and environmental responsibility.
Aurora’s team of engineers and administrators joined other companies in planting hundreds of trees at the Holderrieth Stormwater Detention Basin in Tomball, TX. Employees took the opportunity to contribute directly, improving air quality, expanding green spaces, and supporting local biodiversity.
Building Stronger Teams Through Sustainability
The competition strengthened teamwork across the company. “I enjoy spending time with my coworkers outside the office,” said Emily Castro, Lead Project Engineer at Aurora. “We worked toward a common goal, and seeing our teamwork in action felt like an assembly line running smoothly.”
Some found the event both challenging and rewarding. “Spacing out all those trees was tricky,” said Caitlyn Cooper, Graduate Engineer at Aurora. “The pressure kicked in when we heard people cheering near the end. When we finished, we realized we were one of the first teams done, which made waiting for the results even more exciting.”
Aurora’s team performed well, taking 2nd place in the competition.
A Commitment to Sustainability
Aurora has always valued corporate social responsibility, and this event was another way to put that into practice. The company is focused on building for the future, and planting trees was a way to do that outside the office while giving back to Houston.
With the strong turnout and positive feedback from employees, Aurora looks forward to getting involved in more community and environmental projects.
