Dr. Meng Liu has years of experience in structural design and analysis. His research focuses on repair and rehabilitation of steel structures using advanced composite materials, and the associated reliability of the strengthened structures. He also has expertise in structural analysis using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and analytical approach.
Meng joined Aurora in April 2017 and has been working as a structural engineer to support a variety of infrastructure projects. He has designed a variety of earth-retaining structures for road way, waterfront, and trench support. He has been involved extensively in the assessments of construction impacts on existing structures, such as large-diameter water line crossings at highway bridges and transmission towers. His work also involves the risk management of tunnel excavation, such as tunneling under rivers. In addition, he has performed detailed design and analysis of pipeline connections, supports, thrust mitigation, and other underground structures.
Before coming to the United States, Meng worked as a structural engineer for two years at Guangdong Electric Power Design Institute in Guangzhou, China, where he designed structures for power plants, such as coal transfer towers, elevator shafts, silos, trestle bridges, coal hopper, and deep foundations, etc. He is a licensed structural engineer in China.
